Boiler Scrappage Scheme £600 saving

Meeting ambitious Government targets with a new grant scheme!

(The contractor will offer a further £200 discount in addition to the government allowance of £400). With ambitious CO2 reduction targets to meet, the Government have announced a new incentive scheme targeted at homes with older, inefficient boilers. The scheme, which launched this week, aims to encourage home owners to reduce their CO2 emissions by offering a grant of up to £400 towards the cost of replacing an old G-Rated boiler with a new, high efficiency A-Rated boiler. Although this scheme will run in England only, up to 125,000 homes are expected to succeed in a grant application.

What is this new scheme?

Aptly named the ‘Boiler Scrappage Scheme’, any home owner or private landlord can apply for a grant as long as they can confirm that:
A), their boiler is the main heating system at the property
B), the boiler is in working order (unless the applicant is over the age of 60)
C), the boiler is G-Rated, or worse

Once the above criteria has been confirmed, the applicant would then need to arrange for a reputable boiler installation company to provide a competitive quote for replacing the existing boiler with a more efficient A-Rated boiler.

Should an application be accepted by ACT ON CO2, vouchers of up to £400 will be sent to the applicant, whereby the applicant would need to instruct provider of the quote to go ahead and replace the boiler. The applicant must then pay the invoice in full before sending a copy of the invoice and receipt, along with their voucher, to have the £400 reimbursed.

How does this affect DEAs?

Although this scheme is not expected to generate any work or income for DEAs, it is deemed to be an excellent vehicle for raising awareness amongst home owners of their carbon footprint. Potentially, as a PR exercise, DEAs could notify clients of this new scheme, assisting in identifying a G-Rated boiler. Also, we are aware that some utility companies are beginning to follow suit. It may be advisable to contact your energy provider to enquire about any similar schemes they might be running, matching or beating this offer!

TENANT DEMAND OUTSTRIPS RENTAL SUPPLY

2010, a year that has started very differently to 2009.

Last year was an uncertain time for many, In August 2009, the letting market changed and for Belmonte, we achieved record lettings in one month since we commenced trading. In fact every month since August have shown marked improvements on previous years with December, historically a quieter month, breaking every previous lettings record for December.

Then came January 2010, already since the start of the year, lettings are up. We have registered the most enquiries ever in a two week period and one day we recorded the highest amount of hits on our web site since we started recording the web traffic.

We are sure the reasons are market driven but 2009 ensured that we improved where we could and maximised all our marketing potential, in particular the Internet.

We feature on all the major web sites and have just recently set up a google map property link in readiness for Google property going live in UK very soon.

We have Facebook and Twitter pages as well as numerous other links and property websites as well as our own which always features in the top of most searches.

One thing is for sure, 2010 will continue as 2009 finished but with letting property at the current levels, we have more potential tenants looking to rent than ever before.
